Fast marathons for James and Laura
The Bungay marathon is run over two lap of a course that includes long drawn-out hills throughout the first six miles of each lap. James showed the benefits of his winter training and racing by finishing the tough course in 3:10:40, an improvement of over 15 minutes on his previous best, to finish 15th overall and 3rd V40.
Laura travelled to the Sussex coast to take part in the Brighton marathon, where she ran a strong 3:27:24 to take 10th place in the ladies race with a top 500 finish in a field of around 7500. Her split times showed a faster second half to the race, with a finishing time that was 48 minutes faster than her previous best.
In the Bungay half-marathon, run over a single lap of the same tough course, Vicky was first home for the club in 1:43:17, finishing 6th lady in her category. Anthony was just 15 seconds short of his personal best with a time of 1:47:04. Ian finished in 1:49:42, while Anne Gomer who has recently returned to the club, broke her own club F60 record by a minute with a run of 1:57:09. Matt Kett unfortunately missed the start and had a difficult time catching up the field over the hilly early miles, eventually finishing in 2:08:20.
