weekend results - 15th July
The Fairlands Valley Ultra Challenge is held over a 50Km multi-terrain course with competitors following written route instructions. Sean Ketteridge ran a well-judged race to win the event in 4 hours 6 minutes. James Haskey-Jones ran with a group hoping to match his top ten finish of the previous year. Unfortunately, the group took a wrong turning in a wood and ran an additional 5 miles. James recovered to complete the course, running a total of almost 37 miles with a finishing time of 5 hours 50 minutes.
The fourth race in the Mid-Essex Casuals quarter marathon series saw Sean Ketteridge take equal second place with a run of 42:21. Craig Dawson also secured a top ten finish with a run of 48:50 in 9th position. A Tiptree team took part in the Ekiden Relay, organised by Ipswich Jaffa. The team of 6 completed the marathon distance running stages of 7.2 km, 10Km, 5km to finish 113th overall in a time of 4:02;48. Individual times were Wendy Smalley 41:35 for 7.2K, Sharon Avent 37:35 for 5K, Joanne Dickman 55:49 for 10K, Karen Pierce 28:58 for 5K, Martin Avent 48:27 for 10K, John McVelia 30:16 for 5K.
Ted Skinner completed the Valentines Park Parkrun 5K in 21:11, his second fastest time of the season.
