Club information
Membership
Anyone is welcome to join Tiptree Road Runners. Our membership year runs from 1st November to 31st October. As a club member, you will receive an England Athletics competition licence number which you may need when completing race entry forms. This proves that you belong to an affiliated club and qualifies you for the lower affiliated entry fee.
If you'd like to join the club or renew your membership, contact our Treasurer Jim Slater for a membership form.
Lady members
We've got a growing ladies section with runners of all abilities. If you'd like to know more, contact Carolyn or Tina.
Running standards
We welcome runners of all abilities. But, as we are a small club, we don’t unfortunately have the resources to help complete beginners. You don’t have to be fast or ultra-fit, but, to take part in our training sessions, you need to be able to run about 5 miles comfortably.
Training
We run regular training sessions on a Tuesday evening from the Tiptree Sports Centre, with other sessions on Thursdays and some Sundays. The sessions vary and are led by our experienced coaches, Simon Morgan and Laura Shewbridge.
Kit
Our club kit is a red top with the club logo and black shorts and you should wear this when competing in a race. We also have a selection of sweatshirts, T-shirts and running jackets in club colours. Contact Carolyn for details and prices.
Safety for training in autumn/winter
If you are taking part in club training in autumn or winter when nights are dark, you must wear a hi-viz reflective top and a headtorch.
Racing
Club members compete in road races from 5 kilometres to the marathon all year round. In the autumn and winter, we compete in the 53-12 and Essex cross-country leagues. The distance is around 5 miles. Many of our members also take part in trail runs. Click here to see the list of fixtures for all events.
Tiptree races
Every year, we host the Tiptree 10, now one of the most popular ten mile events in the county. Click here to find out more about the event. We also organise a series of trail runs.
Reporting your results
At many races, a club member will collect your finishing time. If not, please email Ian Linton by Sunday evening so that we can record and report your result in the local papers
Press coverage
You can read about the club's results in the local press, including Colchester Evening Gazette, Maldon & Burnham Standard, Essex Chronicle, The Tribune and East Anglian Daily Times.
League table
We run a league table where you gain points for taking part in races and for attending club training nights. At the end of the year (October) we present awards to the person who is top of the league and the person who has made the biggest improvement in league points over the year. Most months, we choose a "club race" where you get extra points, depending on where you finish in the Tiptree squad. First finisher gets 25 points, then 24, down to 10. Men and ladies get equal points. See the latest league table.

Insurance
The club has third party liability insurance, arranged through UK Athletics.
Joining another club
You can also be a second-claim member of other running clubs, but you may not compete for a second-claim club in any event where Tiptree Road Runners are participating. If you wish to leave Tiptree Road Runners to join another club as a first-claim member, you must resign in writing. Depending on circumstances, you may not be eligible to compete for your new club for a certain period - the rules are set by UK Athletics.
